Habeload and Succor have jointly developed an innovative vacuum system for lifting heavy sheet material: Vacusystem. The purpose of this technique is to make existing vacuum grippers more efficient and more widely usable. Instead of a centrally fed vacuum system, decentralized electric vacuum generators called Vacupods are used. Inspired by how the suction cups on an octopus's arm work together, this technique makes vacuum grippers:

• safer, due to the built-in redundancy of the Vacupod system.
• More energy efficient, by generating vacuum electrically on site.
• Easier to use, by communicating the rich sensor information that the Vacupods generate through an intuitive interface.
• Easily configurable, due to the modularity of the system where Vacupods can be linked together to change the lifting capacity.
